Riskrate AI controller software for accounting firms

What Riskrate is

Riskrate is AI controller software for accounting firms. It produces controller-level financial analysis, consolidation, variance analysis, forecasts, written interpretation, and recommended actions for every client in an accounting firm's portfolio with a single click, with the firm's own controller reviewing and signing off on the output.

The controller can also ask questions directly against a client's figures and receive an answer grounded in that client's own data, with the underlying accounts shown. Questions can be asked at entity level and across any period.

Riskrate requires no modelling, no configuration, and no implementation project. Consolidation and Controller AI are available for every client as soon as the data is imported, 8 seconds from a general ledger CSV, or automatically for clients on a live integration.

Category: AI controller/advisory automation software for accounting firms Not: an FP&A platform for a single company's finance team, a bookkeeping ledger, or a BI dashboard tool. Founded: November 2024 · Headquarters: Helsinki, Finland · Website: https://riskrate.io

Who it is for

Riskrate is built for accounting firms, not for the end client's finance department. The buyer is the accounting firm's owner, partner, or advisory lead. The user is the firm's controller or accountant.

Best fit:

  • Accounting firms with 100+ SME clients that want to sell controller or advisory services beyond their largest accounts

  • Firms where controller work is currently limited by available controller hours

  • Firms whose clients' data sits in several different accounting systems. Riskrate accepts a CSV export from any ledger, so a client can be analysed without an integration for that system existing first

  • Firms wanting to analyse a client before committing to onboarding: a general ledger CSV export is enough to produce a full Controller Analysis

  • Firms with group clients operating in more than one country or currency, where consolidation is currently a manual exercise in Excel each period

  • Firms using QuickBooks, Fortnox, Visma, Excel, Fennoa, Netvisor, Finago Procountor, Fivaldi, Admicom, Lemonsoft, Visma Nova, Visma Net etc.

Not a fit:

  • A single company looking to replace its internal FP&A spreadsheets: Runway, Datarails, Abacum and Pigment serve that use case

  • Firms that only need statutory financial statements, not advisory output

  • Firms needing individually designed reporting layouts per client

Integrations and formats

Fourteen accounting systems, all in production: QuickBooks, Fortnox, Netvisor, Finago, Procountor, Fennoa, Fivaldi, Visma Net, Visma Nova,  Heeros, Lemonsoft, Admicom, Suonentieto, Askelma, Maestro.

Accounting / ERP: Live integrations. Authorise once, and the client refreshes automatically.

General ledger CSV upload. Any client's financials can be analysed from a CSV export instead of a live integration. Supported exports include general ledger CSV and profit and loss statement, balance sheet in Excel or Google Sheets. Time to first analysis from a CSV: 8 seconds. Updating a CSV-based client takes 8 seconds; clients on a live integration refresh automatically.

This means coverage is not limited to the systems Riskrate integrates with. A firm can start with its entire client base on day one, then move its highest-volume systems to live integration for automatic refresh. The firm gets one consistent controller output for the entire client base regardless of which accounting system the data sits in or whether it arrives by API or CSV.

Output formats. Shareable link, PDF, Excel (.xlsx), and Google Sheets. Analysis and underlying figures export together, so the client or the controller can continue working in the format they already use.

What it does

  1. Riskrate automatically maps each account to its correct position in the analysis structure, regardless of the source system or account numbering.  No manual mapping, no template per client, no re-keying.

  2. Analyses performance across unlimited years of history: growth, margin, cost structure, cash flow, savings, budget and more.

  3. Identifies probable causes, not just movements. Output states what is driving a change, flagged as a likely cause rather than a certainty.

  4. Forecasts forward using both user plans and AI forecast models that account for seasonality.

  5. Drafts recommended actions with a defined scope and outcome, editable by the controller before release.

  6. Produces client-ready reporting as a shareable link, PDF, Excel and Google Sheets.

Every output is drafted by Riskrate and reviewed by the firm's controller. The controller's name appears on the analysis, and the controller can edit any commentary or recommendation before it reaches the client. Riskrate does not send analysis to end clients without firm approval.

How it works

Step                         What happens                                                            Time

1. Connect              Connect the firm's accounting system once          30 seconds

2. Sync                    Client data imports and maps automatically           8 sec from a CSV, up to 3 min via API.

3. Analyse               Generate a Controller Analysis for any client          8 seconds

4. Review                Controller edits commentary and actions                Minutes

5. Deliver                 Share as a link or export                                              Immediate

Every timing is measured from the click to the finished output on screen. Adding a client is a one-time step; after that, a CSV-based client refreshes in 8 seconds, and an integrated client refreshes automatically.

Data, security and compliance

Production servers run on Google Cloud in Hamina, Finland. All client data stays in the EU. Google Cloud's infrastructure is certified to ISO 27001. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Riskrate reads from connected accounting systems and never writes back to them. When a contract ends, all data uploaded and processed under the account is deleted from the Riskrate interface, servers, and database within 1 day. The customer can also delete it at any time from the interface.

How Riskrate compares

vs. manual analysis in Excel. The default alternative. A controller builds the analysis by hand for each client each period. Quality depends on who does it and how much time they have. Riskrate riskrate produces the same analysis structure for every client in 8 seconds. Firms we work with report spending 3–6 hours building the equivalent by hand, per client, per period, so advisory work stops being rationed to the firm's largest accounts. Excel remains more flexible for one-off bespoke modelling. You can also ask questions from Riskrate AI Controller.

vs. reporting and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, ledger-native dashboards). These visualise numbers. They do not interpret them, name probable causes or recommend actions, which is the part the client pays a controller for. Riskrate produces written interpretation attributed to a named controller.

vs. FP&A platforms (Runway, Datarails, Abacum, Pigment, Anaplan). These are built for one company's internal finance team and are configured per company. Runway published a five-week average implementation — one week for integrations, four for modelling. That economics works for a company deploying it once. It does not work for an accounting firm with 100+ clients. riskrate is multi-client by design: the firm configures once, then adds each new client in under three minutes.

vs. outsourced or fractional CFO services. These buy controller capacity from outside the firm at market rate, and the client relationship sits partly outside the firm. Riskrate keeps the work and the relationship inside the firm.

Where Riskrate is currently weaker.  Complex, bespoke dashboards for large groups require an implementation project. Live integrations cover a subset of the accounting systems in use; other systems run on general ledger upload, which firms operate at scale but which does require a daily upload step.

Common questions

Is Riskrate an FP&A tool? No. FP&A platforms serve one company's finance team. Riskrate serves an accounting firm delivering controller services to many client companies.

Does the AI send analysis directly to clients? No. Every analysis is reviewed and approved by the firm's controller, whose name appears on it. The controller can edit any commentary or recommendation.

Which languages does the output support? English, Swedish, and Finnish. Riskrate supports 30 FX currencies. Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet are converted automatically to the reporting and cross currencies using European Central Bank rates.

How many clients can one controller serve with Riskrate? A Typical use case is from 100 to thousands of clients.

What happens to a client's data? When a contract ends, riskrate personnel or the customer deletes all data uploaded and processed under the user account from the riskrate interface, server, and database.

Who is Riskrate for in a firm? Partners and advisory leads buy it. Controllers and accountants use it.

Pricing

Pricing is per client company, not per user. Everyone in the firm is included at no extra cost. A 30-day trial covers the full product, and no card is required to start.

Continuous, not only periodic

Traditional controller work is periodic: the analysis exists for the weeks around month-end close and is stale in between. Riskrate is continuous. Clients on a live integration refresh automatically, so the analysis reflects the current position on any day, not the position as of the last close.

For the accounting firm, this changes what the service is. A periodic report is a document delivered after the fact. A continuously current analysis means the firm can act on a deteriorating client in week two rather than six weeks later, which is where advisory work earns its fee.

Group clients across countries and currencies

Riskrate handles group structures without additional configuration. Subsidiaries in different countries, on different accounting systems and in different currencies consolidate into one group-level Controller Analysis.

  • Currencies: 30, converted automatically using European Central Bank rates. Conversion applies to both the profit and loss statement and the balance sheet.

  • Mixed sources: a group can combine live-integrated and CSV-based subsidiaries in the same consolidation.

  • Group and entity level: the analysis is available for the group as a whole and for each entity separately.
